Trailhead Location:
On Hwy. 395, 31½ miles north of Bishop or 4½ miles south of Mammoth Lakes turnoff (Hwy. 203), turn onto Convict Lake Road. Drive for 3 miles to the trail head which is on the right, just past the pack station.

Dates open:
Usually from late June through October, depending on the snowpack.

Type of camp:
Backpack 6 miles on a strenuous to very strenuous trail. Highest elevation reached is 10,340 feet.

Permits:
Forest service wilderness permit. No campfires.

Comments:
Purify water, watch for bears and pack out all trash. Good fishing.
